From past to present
In 1974, HOLMER made a milestone in agricultural technology by developing the first 6-row, self-propelled sugar beet harvester – marking the beginning of a success story. Since then, we have continually developed our harvester: with larger tires for more soil protection, more powerful and environmentally friendly engines, improved slope handling, additional steering combinations, and many other innovations.
A notable highlight was in 2015, when our Terra Dos T4-30 with HR 12 set a world record by harvesting 85.6 ha of sugar beets in just 24 hours. Thanks to these continuous improvements, HOLMER is now one of the leading manufacturers of self-propelled sugar beet harvesters, significantly contributing to efficiency and success in agriculture.
Development of the first 6-row, self-propelled sugar beet harvester
- “New” working method in single-operator process
- Beet harvesting is performed frontally from the pile
- The topper cuts the beet leaves, distributing them via the leaf spreader or unloading with leaf belt
- 6 scalpers with cutting thickness automation
- Polder shares lift the beets from the soil
- Cleaning with 6 spiral rollers, transfer web, and 3 turbines
- Ring elevator for filling and auger for distributing the beets in the bunker
- Daimler Benz engine with 221 kW / 300 HP
- Mechanically and hydraulically driven units
- 12 t bunker capacity
- MAN engine, 272 kW / 370 HP
- Even weight distribution between front and rear axles
- All-wheel steering enables easy maneuvering in tight spaces
- Furrow spreader for leveling the field
- Hydraulically foldable spreader disc or leaf belt
- Soundproof cabin with foldable windshield
- Cleaning with 3 turbines or 2 turbines and finger roller
- 34 m³ bunker capacity
What does the name Terra Dos mean?

- World record for 24-hour harvesting with 12-row harvester
In autumn 2015, HOLMER introduced its 12-row lifting unit HR 12, which was immediately subjected to the toughest field test – setting a world record in sugar beet harvesting! At 12:01 PM on September 28, 2015, a HOLMER Terra Dos T4-30 with HR 12 began this world record attempt. Within 24 hours, it harvested 85.6 ha of sugar beets in the fields of Baltic Agrar in Liepen (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern). The world record proves the efficiency of the HR 12 – and this record has not been broken since.”
