4,000th Holmer sugar beet harvester a white Terra Dos T4-40 with 12 row lifting unit HR 12

In 1969 blacksmith Alfons Holmer takes over his father's small workshop in Eggmühl, Bavaria. In 1974 the first 6-row self-propelled Holmer sugar beet harvester is built there in cooperation with the sugar refinery Südzucker and a newly founded harvesting association of farmers nearby. The system of harvesting sugar beets with the lifter in front of the first axle has today established itself with all major manufacturers.

The classic, built from 1992 to 1996, is the first sugar beet harvester in the world to be built in serial-production. In 1996 the Terra Dos model with crab steering mode follows. In 2009, the single row depth control was introduced for the HR lifting unit, which was automated in 2014 with the patented EasyLift system.

In 2019, the 4,000 Holmer sugar beet harvester leaves the production halls of the world market leader for self-propelled sugar beet harvesting technology in Eggmühl.

 

The 4,000 HOLMER sugar beet harvester is a Terra Dos T4 with a 12-row HR 12 lifting unit, painted white with black accents. The interior of the cabin is also adapted to the color scheme. The black Terra Dos lettering is a reminiscence of the first Terra Dos machines.

 

The Terra Dos T4 with the no. 4,000 has numerous new series features which will be presented at Agritechnica in Hanover:

  • The telemetry system EasyHelp 4.0 has been consistently further developed:EasyHelp 4.0  is primarily a service solution for remote diagnosis and maintenance of Holmer machines. After approval by the machine operator, the after sales department has access to the machine data in order to check current settings and data recordings. This accelerates fault diagnosis and significantly shortens downtime through optimum spare parts supply and targeted troubleshooting. EasyHelp 4.0  is also connected to various farm management systems as well, such as farmpilot via the manufacturer-independent data exchange platform agrirouter. This enables the operations manager to transfer order data directly to the machine cabin, provides complete transparency of the machine data and thus simplifies operations planning.
  • The Terra Dos T4 is equipped with a yield measuring system for the number of bunkers and ton per job to ensure optimized logistics planning. 
  • For a reliably high cleaning and conveying capacity, the Terra Dos T4 has independent drives for the transfer web and turbines, which are pressure-monitored and speed-controlled. With the automatic adaptive cleaning plus, the settings of the transfer web, turbines and elevator are additionally dependent on driving speed, which further improves beet protection. This is because there are often few beets in the cleaning system when harvesting on the headland or at the end of a row. This increases the contact of each individual beet with the machine components. By adjusting the cleaning speed to the driving speed, damaged and broken beets are consistently avoided even in this phase. The response of the automatic system can be individually adjusted so that it can be adapted to different harvest yields. The system also relieves the driver.
  • The durability of the Terra Dos T4 has been further improved. Numerous adjustments have been made to reduce wear and maximize operational safety. The DynaCut scalper blades have been given a new shape. The sharper angle of the edge prevents rapid blunting of the knives, which extends the service life of the knives up to seven times until the next sharpening operation. The transfer web and elevator belt are now made of the most modern, highly flexible material, which is even more tear-resistant. Forged and subsequently hardened guide rails in the cleaning system also transport large harvest quantities safely, which has decisive advantages especially with wider lifting units. Strengthened feeder bars on the elevator also guarantee additional stability for large harvest yields. The scraper floor rails are now made of Hardox®, a wear- and abrasion-resistant steel.
  • The new lifting share DuraShare, a forged share from a single casting, also aims for longer durability. Small carbide plates are soldered onto the lower edge to protect the material from wear. They form a slipstream edge for the cast iron during harvesting. Soil and stones thus have less contact with the forged part, which guarantees a longer life of the share. The Holmer DuraShare is reverse compatible so that older Terra Dos series can also be equipped with it. It is protected by a design patent and is now available as an original Holmer spare part.
  • The Terra Dos T4-40 with HR 12 is now also available with Michelin VF 900/60 R 38 tires on the front axle and Mitas SFT 1250/50 R 32 tires on both rear axles. The four rear tires can thus be driven with only 1.2 bar (17.4 psi) tire pressure, which ensures maximum contact patch and ground protection.

 

The 4,000th HOLMER sugar beet harvester with special white paintwork will therefore be more than just an eye-catcher at the Hanover trade fair. The sugar beet harvester with the no. 4,000 has already been sold and will be used in the next harvesting season at Bauer Agrarservice in Eastern Germany.
