Terra Felis 2: Experience loading effort - without compromise

18.10.2010

In time for the start of the campaign 14 of the most powerful and flexible beet cleaner loader on the market have left the factory in Eggmühl.

HOLMER Maschinenbau GmbH presented the Terra Felis 2 on the occasion of the "Agritechnica 2009" to the public for the first time. With this new generation of beet cleaner loadoers Holmer caused a break-up in the market. The overwhelming response led Holmer to increase the production and dispatch 14 machines in the campaign 2010 on time. In addition, some customers have already secured themselves a new Terra Felis 2 for 2011.
Of the 14 Terra Felis 2, nine machines are in use in Germany. Its field extends over the sites of Südzucker AG (Ochsenfurt, Zeitz, Wabern, and Warburg), the Nordzucker AG (Nordstemmen, Clauen, Schladen and Kleinwanzleben) and Pfeifer and Langen AG in Könnern and with the last machine now also fort he factory in Lage.
In this campaign the first machines have already been loading almost a quarter of one million tonnes of beet together.
In the first days of this year's campaign, which were characterized by alternating weather conditions, the Terra Felis 2 could already put his skills to the test and utilise its advantages fully.
The optimal adaptation to such varying loading conditions is only possible with the nearly 10 meters pick up which was developed and patented by Holmer.
Also proved as a guarantor for optimal loading capacity is the newly defined cleaner: the HOLMER vario cleaner. This ensures Holmer in two key elements of treatment for most gentle beet and optimal cleaning performance with a maximum loading capacity up to 560 t/h.

After years of no innovative changes on the concept of beet cleaner loaders, Holmer presents a consistent development in this segment with the Terra Felis 2 for the first time. This new approach for continuous adjustment of the cleaning intensity was tested in a first stage of development already on the basis of a prototype pick up on an experimental vehicle in the 2008 campaign.
This innovation by Holmer seems to set a course in the market. Leading manufacturers in this segment have immediately begun a reproduction of HOLMER´s patented pick up.
In the nearly 10 meters wide Holmer pick up three separate transmissions are installed. This allows to adjust the speed ratios of pick-up and transfer rollers, the three distributor rollers and the four collector rollers independently. This allows the cleaning path and the cleaning intensity to be adjusted continuously. The beets are promoted on the table, either first to the outside, whereby the cleaning section is nearly doubled, or directly to the middle for highest loading capacity. In this way yn adaptation to the loading conditions depending on the degree of dirt on the beet is possible and the only way to save unnecessary fuel consumption, wear and beet losses.

The approach of a maximum of careful and only if necessary, intensive cleaning is followed in the further cleaning way in the machine. Holmer has developed to the vario HOLMER cleaner. The roller cleaner, which is recommended under difficult conditions and high dirt shares can be covered by a sieve chain under good conditions, which significantly reduces root loss and less damage to the beets.
This unique "all in one" solution of a spiral rollers and sieve chain can be easily adjusted in the machine from the driver's seat and thus adapt constantly to changing conditions in a beet pile. The HOLMER Vario Cleaner is housed in it´s 15 meter long transfer elevator.

Also unique about the loader are the highly wear-resistant plastic panels on the transfer elevator. This polyamide plates, that can be replaced quickly if worn, can be also found in the complete beet channel of the basic machinery including the finishing cleaner.
With throughput of up to 560 t / h and it´sfrom it´s 900 mm wide belt the machine reaches a new dimension. This power can only be implemented with the unique on the market, 900 mm wide belt, which  has a 13% increased transfer area.
The Terra Felis 2 offers the largest cabin in the market for cleaner loaders with a considerable space and standard equipment such as: climate control, heater, freezer, air-suspended and heated driver seat, electrically adjustable and pneumatic retractable mirrors, color screen with four cameras (including the pick-up, finishing cleaner, transfer elevator, rear) and a air connection for cleaning.
The Terra Felis 2 is driven by the new MAN DO836 diesel engine with 250 kW (340hp) and has already exhaust level of  EURO 3b without AdBlue. An intelligent machine control to relieve the driver and to reduce fuel consumption is reached by a CAN-based network of vehicle control computers. The touch-screen terminal with the specially from Holmer developed „easy touch interface“ allows intuitive operation. It allows the driver a customized control layout and allows immediate access to the most frequently used controls and fades out unnecessary dates for the operator.
The Holmer easy touch interface provides a very clear and logical operation, setting and monitoring of the cleaner loader including a comprehensive diagnosis.
Other highlights at Terra Felis 2:

  • One-button automatic for the folding of the pick-up as well as the beet rake
  • The automatic reversing of the rolls, the pressure and time of direction can be individually programmed.
  • The optional water-spraying device in addition to the continuous and variable interval operation also provides the opportunity to be automatically controlled by the pressure of the rolls in the reception and cleaners.
  • 32 km / h design (optional)
  • Already at an engine speed of 1,200 rpm, the full hydraulic power is available option is a terminal-integrated scale, which promises highest accuracy.
  • This is possible because of the new scale position in the outer portion of the transfer elevator, as installed at this point, the angle changes only minimally.
