Ground-breaking ceremony for new logistics centre in Schierling

23.08.2017

The new premises of the Holmer Maschinenbau GmbH in Schierling near Regensburg are 140,000 square metres. Here, only five kilometres away from the present location of the headquarter in Eggmühl, the company positions itself anew for the future. As the first section of the new premises the logistics centre is realised; the investment is about ten million euros. At 7/28/2017 the official ground-breaking ceremony took place. Holmer CEO Wolfgang Bergmann is glad about the new halls: ”Our logistics centre finds a perfect place here. Our approx. 40 employees in logistics get an optimum working sphere which is laid out for our sometimes very big spare parts. And our customers profit from an even quicker service by improved processes and higher efficiency. We build our future here with commitment and passion.“

Approx. 40,000 different articles are kept in store in the HOLMER warehouse; the employees dispatch about one million parts per year in the whole world. The new logistics centre will offer with approx. 7,500 square metres of hall surface enough place for all spare parts which the world market leader for sugar beet harvesting technology sends as far as China and Chile. If one calculates projecting roofs as well as loading and unloading places in addition, there are a total of 9,500 square metres which the logistics centre encloses; on top Holmer will build parking lots and free surfaces.

Now construction will start quickly: The subsoil is already prepared for the construction work. The first works for the new halls begin directly after the ground-breaking ceremony. After the sugar beet harvest – in spring 2018 – the spare parts will move into the new logistics centre. The construction works for the outside arrangements will be concluded in April 2018.

Schierling’s mayor Christian Kiendl sees the ground-breaking ceremony as “a day of rejoicing and another climax in the development of the market Schierling.“ He is proud, ”that Holmer has decided to remain in Schierling and stays loyal to its roots.“
Already two years ago, the purchase of 140,000 m ² of land in the industrial area „Am Birlbaum“ in Schierling had been signed. It was the biggest property which has ever been sold in the market Schierling. The plannings for the new premises took quite long, because the area had to be split sensibly and also the following sections were considered from the outset by the planning. The present location of Holmer in Eggmühl became too small by the new, bigger machines and the higher number of vehicles built. That's why the company has currently three locations: the head office in Eggmühl with production, research and development and management, the worldwide responsible warehouse in Regensburg as well as the testing and training centre in Rogging three kilometres from Eggmühl.

In the new location in Schierling all departments of the company should be pulled together again in the long term. The situation of the property directly at the exit “Schierling South” of the four-lane B 15 new is ideal – for the delivery of parts and components as well as for the delivery of the up to 15-metre-long sugar beet harvester on low-bed trailers.
