The Slurry Spreader for Everyone - Terra Variant 435

15.10.2017

HOLMER is showing the Terra Variant 435, the Terra Variant 585’s "little brother", at Agritechnica 2017. The extremely lightweight slurry spreader is perfect for stock fertilization in the spring and for spreading slurry at ground level. With the Terra Variant 435, HOLMER offers a new solution for soil-friendly slurry spreading that meets today’s new fertilization regulations.

The Terra Variant 435 at a glance:

  • Engine and drivetrain: the six-cylinder in-line Mercedes-Benz OM 470 LA engine has a power output of 435 horsepower (320 kW), 2,100 Nm of torque, and a displacement of 10.7 l. The engine already meets all the requirements of the Stage V emissions standard that will take effect in 2019, so it protects the environment.
  • The little Terra Variant has a brand new hydrostatic drivetrain with single-axle drives which provides for continuous travel from 0-40 km/h – no need for driveshafts to the axles.
  • DynaProtect - Only flying is easier on the soil: the HOLMER DynaProtect driver assistance system enables customized automatic control of the lead of both drive axles in every position. Dependent of the slope of topography and vegetation, it ensures the best soil protection in the growing area or on grassland, and provides tracking stability for row crops and tramlines, especially in spring. It also minimizes wear and fuel costs on the road.
  • Chassis: A slender tubular steel frame was completely redesigned for the Terra Variant 435. The new front axle suspension with an integrated slope support system, together with the long wheelbase of 4.26 m, offers both optimal slope stability, and the best suspension comfort at the same time.
  • Weight: The Terra Variant 435 is an extremely lightweight vehicle: this carrier vehicle weighs only 13.8 tons, because soil protection begins with weight. With slurry technology, the Terra Variant weighs approximately 16.7 tons.
  • Tires: This vehicle is equipped with the new Michelin VF 900/60 R 38 CerexBib 2 tires with Ultraflex technology. Fully loaded, the low vehicle weight also allows a minimum tire pressure of 1.2 bar, thus enabling maximum surface contact.
  • Cabin and operation: The cab and operation of the Terra Variant 435 take after its "big brother". The intuitive HOLMER SmartDrive operating concept with the EasyTouch terminal, jog dial operation, and joystick is continued. The operation of the superstructure is now integrated directly into the HOLMER EasyTouch terminal.
  • Rear hydraulics: As with the Terra Variant 585, the three-point KAT III category fully swivels hydraulically on both sides, thus ensuring that only straight forces act in the crab-steering mode, so that the material of the machine and attachment isn’t loaded unnecessarily. It comes standard with three-point loading and unloading for slurry injectors.
  • Slurry technology: The Terra Variant 435 comes equipped with a 16 m³ Ultra Light Zunhammer GRP (glass fiber reinforced plastic) tank. All suction lines are 10 inches. To optimize weight, the intake manifold is made of lightweight GRP. Zunhammer VAN-Control for nutrient-controlled slurry spreading is available as an option.
  • Pump technology: Like its “big brother”, the Terra Variant 435 is fitted with a Vogelsang VX 186-368 QD pump with a maximum capacity of 9,000 l/min for the shortest suction times and flexible application rates. However, in contrast to the usual cast version, an aluminum version is being used here for the first time.
  • Cutting unit: The Terra Variant is fitted with a Vogelsang RotaCut® 10000 MXL, with a maximum flow rate of 10,000 l/min.

The Agritechnica machine has already been sold to a Bavarian slurry association. Orders are being taken now for the Terra Variant 435. The first batch will be rolled out from production in 2018.
